Monika Osiecka
Before she became a student at the Sculpture Department, Monika Osiecka had completed Oriental and Italian Studies. Initially, she made only abstract sculptures, however one day she realised how beautiful and inexhaustible subject the human body could be. The artist discovered also that by showing the body she could find a way to understand herself and in that case – to communicate with her own “feminine side”.
The bodily expression and eroticism of her art links associations with August Rodin or Alina Szapocznikow but at the same time reminds us of the classical aesthetics and pure, synthetic form. Monika Osiecka is looking for beauty that will survive beyond trends.
